ReplyDeleteI got both the original word/company 2 (with presumably the same issue Ken had) and replacement word 2. I have all the others except w/c 6. I was able to get the phrase after solving old 2, 3 and 7 and work backwards to get the companies for 1, 4, 5 and 8.
ReplyDeleteOne of the words can lead to 2 different companies (both homophones and anagrams, punctuation excluded). Another word can lead to a different company, where the substitute letter is "wrong".
Besides LOWE'S, there is LOEWS. Also, WRECK could become MERCK, but that would lead to "Dow Mones".
ReplyDeleteMy original #6 was DRANO, which I protested was a product not a company. But I changed it to HONDA. I got SONIC for #8, which still yields DOW JONES.
