Promising Stars

Q:

Think of a seven letter word for what you see on "American Idol".  Add one letter to name what you see on the campaign trail.

I thought the image was pretty cool as well as a hint.  It is an abstract of David and Goliath.  What you see on "American Idol" are singers.  Add an "L" and you get slingers, as in mud.

  1. I bet Mitt hates it when his campaign takes him to cheap local chophouses. Pity his poor server.

  4. A Jackson on American Idol might say a contestant has "promise".
The "promises" of candidates on the campaign trail might encourage the donation of a few "Jacksons" to the campaign coffers.

Neither of which has much to do with the picture---nevertheless, I like the picture, and I like the puzzle.

    Here's mud in your eye!

[I thought about just leaving it encrypted, but decided that would be dirty pool.]

    1. What was the encryption? I gave it some effort but couldn't figure it out.
